Tips for Hiring Garage Door Repair Professionals

Unknown to many people, garage door repair happens to be one of the most essential services, especially for a homeowner who might find themselves with one that’s malfunctioning. One way of preventing being stuck with a garage door that will not open or close in the middle of the night is to invest in routine repairs and an inspection.

However, if something does go wrong with your garage door, it is best to hire a team of seasoned professionals. So, the question is, how do you hire the best garage door repair professionals? Well, here are a few tips that should help you choose the right company for your garage door repair needs.

Always Get Multiple Bids

It would help if you always got bids from multiple garage door repair companies near you. The proposals will give you a fair idea of the going rate at the moment. Knowing the going rate will tell you if you’re getting a good enough deal.

However, you will only want to compare oranges with oranges! For instance, does the company offer 24/7 service? Does the company(s) offer a warranty? How long have they been repairing garage doors? Do they subcontract the work to another company or independent contractors? Knowing the answer to these questions is essential when considering offers. In our experience, the cheapest option is often the worst one!

Check The Companys’s Information

When in the market for a garage door company or when considering one, in particular, it is imperative to do your due diligence. In other words, find and verify critical information pertaining to the company. You will want to review information such as:

  • The Company’s Address – A reputable garage door repair company should have a physical address on their website. You will want to verify this via Google Street View. Doing this will help you eliminate having to deal with bogus companies with fake addresses.
  • The Company’s Website – Almost every company today has a website. While some websites may be poorly designed, but don’t fault the company for it. Instead, you should be skeptical of companies that don’t have a website.
  • Reputation – You will want to Google and Bing search the company’s name to see what pops up. Read all the unbiased negative and positive reviews from previous customers before making a decision either way.

Check the Company’s BBB Ratings

The BBB often has numerous ratings that they award a company based on the feedback they receive. The BBB is considered the gold standard. You will want to head on over to the BBB’s website and search for the company to see how they were rated. Generally, the rating is from a scale of A+ to an F, plus you get to sift through unbiased reviews and complaints.

If you see that the company isn’t accredited or has a poor rating, you’ll probably not want to work with them. However, if the company has a long-term accreditation and an A+ rating, they can be considered.
